Kindergarten Studies Fire Safety

Kindergarten students studied fire safety for two weeks culminating in a trip to the Athens Fire Department .They practiced crawling under smoke (red tablecloth)  when they heard the smoke detector go off. They also practiced the stop, drop, and roll technique in case their clothes ever caught fire. After the trip to the fire department, the children enjoyed playing fireman. They slid down the pole on the playground. They pretended the jungle gym was a burning building. One boy rescued another boy who pretended to be unconscious.  Afterward, he  told him not to go back into the burning building.
