Book Circulation
Students in grades K-3 have a set scheduled time of thirty minutes during their weekly library visits while those in grades 4-6 are allotted forty minutes for their time period in the library. The check-out limit for elementary students is usually one book and since they come to the library on a weekly basis, it is normally dated due for the following week. They do however have the option of either returning the book early or renewing it. Presently, secondary students do not have a set check-out limit since their interest (reading) levels and research needs are so different. The number of titles that they may borrow at a time depends on the quantity that is available in the subject area that is being researched or what the teacher requires in the particular assignment. Unless restrictions have to be applied, secondary students may check their books out for a period of two weeks and they also have the option of either an early return or renewing them for an additional two-week period.

Discharging
Elementary and secondary students are simply asked to place their books on the circulation desk so that they can be properly discharged and they are required to alert either librarian or student aides of this fact as to avoid confusion.

Overdue Books

Elementary and secondary student grades or grade reports may be held until overdue library books are either returned, renewed, or a fine of $.05 per day the book is late is paid. The fine is not to exceed the price the library paid for the book.

Collection
The collection which is presently over 6,500 books is developed primarily to support the academic curriculum of Athens Bible School. The online catalog (http://abs.libdata.com) which will be functional soon, will serve as an index to the books in the library. In the event of technical difficulties, the old card catalog (no longer maintained), Sears Subject Headings, the Library of Congress Subject Headings, or a librarian may be consulted in order to pinpoint the Dewey Decimal area in which a particular book can be located.

Internet Access
The Information Super-Highway via the World Wide Web is now available for the faculty, staff, and students in the computer section of the library and student usage will be closely monitored. Those who abuse this privilege will be subject to punishment.

Periodical Indexes
The library presently subscribes to over 45 periodical titles and specific articles from them can be found in the Readers’ Guide to Periodical Literature which is adjacent in the reference section. Aside from the actual hardcopy (paper) format of these periodical, librarians may assist you in locating periodical information from the Athens State University Library databases. Library usage instruction is provided at both the Athens Bible School Library and the Athens State University Library.
