In its pursuit of academic excellence, Athens Bible School is currently engaged in a strategic planning process to guide the school. The Board of Directors are actively pursuing preparations for a new facility.
Groundbreaking activities took place on December 18, 2007, with city officials and school board members, school officials, students, and future students taking part. The cost of the project is estimated to be $12 million, which will come from various fundraisers and donations.
The existing buildings of Athens Bible School were built over 50 years ago. Dr. Joseph Olson, principal, says ABS needs more than 30 acres for accreditation; the present campus is only about 9 acres.
The plans for the new facility is divided into three phases.
Phase One - This phase consists of site work on the property, including roads, parking lots, and two soccer fields. The first phase will take approximately a year to complete.
Phase Two - This phase will include the completion of the outside sports facilities including a baseball field, softball field, and youth fields.
Phase Three - This final phase will consist of the new school building, including all academic facilities, dining hall, library and gymnasium.
